Prado Sisters
Today

Updating april 3, 2007

We encountered Jesus Christ, discovered the depth of his Love for us and for everyone. We have answered His call.
This call gathers us in small communities. We share in with simple people’s daily life, joys and sufferings.
We hope that our presence into their midst shall reveal to them that they are not forgotten by God and that they too may know and love Him.
We work with those who are opening some ways of life in our districts or villages, at work, in some associations and in the Church services.
We take part with others Christians in the proclamation of Jesus Christ, with respect for other religions.
Prado Sisters Communities are presently in 7 countries : Chile, Colombia, South Korea, Spain, France, India and Madagascar.
During our last General Assembly in 2003, we voted an orientation text for the six years to come.

Testimonies

MADAGASCAR

Our sisters from Madagascar celebrated the twenty years of their foundation. For their people, singing is a preferred means of expression. They share with us the song they composed on that occasion:

God Creator of the universe
You created us so that we are yours
You took care of us, you supported us
How wonderful is the way you lead men!

Chorus:
Us, the servants of the Gospel
Us, the Madagascar Prado sisters
We love the little and the poor
We welcome them with faith and love.

He who suffered, died and is risen
We receive him, we contemplate him in the Eucharist.
He will transfigure our whole life
He will support us, he will protect us.

Father, help us to love Jesus Christ
To welcome the Holy Spirit’s gifts
To continue the task of salvation
Among the world where we live.

FROM FRANCE… TO SPAIN… Marie-Jacques ‘s First Impressions…

I arrived in Badalona on the 9th September. Therese and Josefina were waiting for me and had carefully prepared my arrival. As soon as I arrived, I was struck by the density of the population in the area : a crowd of all races, peoples, nations, religions… men… women… children from Eastern Europe, India, Pakistan, China, Marocco…When you arrive from a rural area, it is quite a contrast ! Every day I come across these people in the streets, while going shopping or when going towards “ La Capilla”, the meeting place of the Christians in the upper part of the area. This means for me a renewed invitation to OPEN MY HEART to the dimensions of the world and to become more aware that we are “Citizens of the World”, but I can’t help sometimes saying to myself…. a famous French song … “ Douce France, cher pays de mon enfance”… “ France, country dear to my heart”… These, two attitudes are not in contradiction, are they ?

I came to Badalona with two very precise goals : - Create links at all costs, in spite of the language barrier; - Learn the language as fast as possible. Everyday, I come closer to the first goal. Some faces become familiar to me. Their smile, their warm welcome, their encouragement are a precious help to me, and somehow, we manage to communicate. The second goal, which is learning the language will be achieved more slowly, too slowly for my wish. I understand better Spanish Castillan, but I can’t yet take part in everyday conversation. One day, Angelita had told me : “You will see, you’ll speak castillan and speak it very well”. I would like this solemn declaration to become real soon !
Here is a small detail – When I announced my moving to a community in Spain to my nephew, last May, he exclaimed on the phone : “ Auntie, how wonderful ! Do you realize the opportunities which are given to you : knowing another culture, learning a new language, meeting different people... I am very happy to you ! ...” My silence reduced his enthusiasm and he added : “ Yes, of course, at your age it is difficult and requires courage. But I still maintain my opinion…” So, When my morale is lower, I tell myself… “ Do you realize the opportunities…?” And my last word is JOY !
